World War II Remembrance and Veterans Reunion
Reminisce With Your War Buddies.
Happy Days are here again on the Mississippi Queen®. Veterans and those who
love them are invited to join us for this patriotic salute to veterans of all
wars.
Heroes, historians and other special guests will transport you back to those
bittersweet, never-to-be-forgotten times with firsthand accounts of their
experiences and letters from home. If you've always wanted to organize a
reunion with your war buddies, this may be the perfect opportunity.

Special guests include Dr. Kenneth Inada, an American of Japanese ancestry
who survived one of the most significant battles in military history. Inada
will speak about his experiences as a soldier of K Company, who with I Company,
442nd RCT, were the first to reach the Lost Battalion. K Company suffered many
casualties during the two weeks of fighting in France, losing all its officers
with only 17 riflemen surviving. Tom Yamada will be on the steamboat as well to
discuss what it was like to be a Japanese-American during those turbulent
years.
You'll also meet Dr. Lyle Bouck, commander of the 99th Division I & R
Platoon that held off the German 6th SS Panzer Army for 24 hours during the
Battle of the Bulge. Ron Drez, assistant director of the Eisenhower Center at
the University of New Orleans, will be on hand to educate and enlighten us. His
most recent book is entitled Twenty-Five Yards of War. Also on board will be
Giles Norrington, a prisoner of war in the Hanoi Hilton for six years. And, on
the lighter side, we'll be joined by a Mark Twain impersonator since Twain was
a Confederate soldier in the Civil War for two short weeks.
