Bluegrass Jamboree
Bluegrass—one of America's original art forms.

You're in for a foot-stompin' good time on the Delta Queen® when you
book this Bluegrass Jamboree Vacation. Feel the heartbeat of the
Appalachian and Smoky Mountain regions and watch the bows and fingers fly as
musicians make fiddles, mandolins and banjos sing!
Thanks to Bill Monroe and his “Blue Grass Boys,” this hard-driving, high-energy
style of music took the Grand Ole Opry by storm in 1939, and Monroe's band soon
became one of the most popular touring Nashville groups. Flatt & Scruggs added
fuel to bluegrass popularity by performing on national television from 1948 to
1969. Their “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” became an instrumental anthem in the
field and was used in the soundtrack for the film Bonnie & Clyde.
Bluegrass also provided background music for The Beverly Hillbillies and
Deliverance, and was the centerpiece of the movie O Brother, Where
Art Thou? Since the movie's debut in 2001, bluegrass has enjoyed a popular
resurgence.
We invite you to step on board and discover the music now performed around the
world; the International Bluegrass Music Association lists members in all 50
states and 30 countries.
If you love bluegrass, this is the vacation for you.
